Hot and Cold takes you on a journey of discovery as you piece, appliqué, fuse, emboss, paint and embellish your blocks over the next 12 months. Whether you make yours scrappy or coordinated you’re sure to learn a new tip or technique, get to know a new designer or two, and finish the year with a one-of-a-kind quilt that will bring hours of enjoyment while you make it.

Twelve of our talented friends made this block of the month quilt possible by creating unique block patterns with only a color palette as a guide. Each block design reflects the style and personality of its creator.  In fact, each of our friends made two versions of her block, one using cool tones and the other using warm tones. We tacked our quilts together to make a cheerful and scrappy two-sided quilt.  We invite you to get to know our friends - simply click on a name to get to her website.

Each month’s pattern provides a list of the materials and full instructions for completing the 12” block. To finish your quilt to 47” x 60” you will need 1.5 yards of fabric for 3” wide sashing and 1 yard for binding.
