Ode to Your Quilt by Rue Fillingham

A work of art, Tis not at all,
Don't contemplate covering the wall.

Each piece is dream that will come true,
Each stitch is love meant just for you.

Cuddle under, roll in, sit on please.
This quilt was created only to ease.

If at the end of your life, this quilt is a shred.
It can go to quilt heaven with nothing to dread.

Rue Fillingham sent this poem to our e-mail address, FPCGazette@poly-fil.com, and we thought it would be a perfect addition to this months newsletter...thanks Rue!

You may wonder what Four Leaf Clovers, Irish and St. Patrick's Day has to do with Quilting...the answers are beautiful!

The Triple Irish Chain is just one of a few traditional quilt patterns and there are many wonderful celtic symbols you can applique onto your quilts. Why not start a lucky irish quilt this month?

The quilt featured is a traditional Triple Irish Chain with a watercolor technique.

Did you know each leaf on a four leaf clover symbolizes something?

1. Faith
2. Hope
3. Love
4. Luck

Project Of The Month: Lucky the Leprechaun
Wouldn't it be fun to have a St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun around the house or to give as a special gift? Many little friends would like him anytime of the year.

Click here for instructions and templates.

Quick Tip: While filling Lucky, it may be difficult to stuff the fiber into the tight spots (ie arms, legs, feet and ears) we recommend using a stuffing tool. If you don't have one, improvise by using chopsticks, eraser end of a pencil or a knitting needle.

Do you love desserts as much as I do? I have a wonderfully green dessert for St. Patrick's Day that is sure to be a big Irish hit. Click here to see my recipe for Aunt Olive's famous Celtic Pistachio Cake.

The Craft and Hobby Show (CHA) is the industries largest trade only trade show.  This winter it was held in sunny Anaheim, CA which really drew the crowds.  Martha Stewart was the keynote speaker and was there walking the show as well as introducing her new line of scrapbook accessories.  Vanna White was once again there to M.C. the fashion show put on by Lion Brand Yarn.

While walking the show we saw the trends for 2007.  Embellishing and personalizing apparel and home dec items was hot.  Scrapbooking is still huge.  Lots more software programs to help in whatever craft you are doing.  Overall, it was another great show that makes you want to go home and start getting creative!

We hope you enjoyed this months issue of the Fairfield Gazette, we've already begun working on April's. Next month we will begin our series of "Quilter's Quotes", you don't want to miss it! Think green and keep crafting...
